Tom Brady wasn't the only one who scored big on Sunday night. His ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan, won the internet by hilariously shading the Super Bowl champion.
After the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams with a score of 13-3, the lowest-scoring game in Super Bowl history, the time came to crown the game's Most Valuable Player. Moynahan had some pretty strong feelings about which player deserved the honor.
The 47-year-old actress tweeted, "Congratulations @TB12sports @Patriots thinking @Edelman11 #MVP." That's right- the mother of Brady's eldest son, 11-year-old John- didn't cast a vote for her former flame. Instead, she thought wide receiver Julian Edelman earned the top spot as Super Bowl LIII's MVP.
Twitter users were quick to point out the shade being thrown at the 41-year-old quarterback by his ex, with one person writing, "Cold as ICE!"
Edelman did, in fact, receive the award for Super Bowl LIII's MVP. There's no hard feelings between Brady and 32-year-old Edelman. The quarterback showed nothing but love for his teammate, embracing him immediately following the completion of the game and telling reporters that, "He's a fighter. I'm just so proud of him. He's been an incredible player for this team."
Moynahan has been accused of throwing shade at her ex in the past, specifically over last year's Super Bowl lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. At the time, the "Blue Bloods" actress tweeted, "#NickFoles is having an amazing game" while also sending her congratulations to the entire Eagles team after their 44-33 victory over the Patriots.
Although she's been known to subtly troll her ex on social media, Moynahan has tried to present a united front during press interviews. When asked about her relationship with Brady, who began dating his wife Gisele Bundchen soon after the pair split in 2006, the actress has avoided addressing the controversy surrounding their breakup.
After dating for two years, Moynahan and Brady called it quits, only to find out shortly after that they were expecting a baby. Despite Moynahan's pregnancy, they did not get back together and chose to co-parent their son instead. The actress has said that, although going through her pregnancy alone wasn't easy, she has tried to focus on the fact that her son is "surrounded by love."
All of Brady's children- including John and the two children he shares with Bundchen, Vivian and Benjamin- joined him onstage after his Super Bowl victory.
